Every single Run for Something candidate who gets elected means more Americans represented by someone who agrees that the climate crisis is, well, a crisis -- and while that might seem like a low bar, these days, it's an important one. Here's how three of our alumni are using their positions to make our planet a little bit safer:

In Florida, State Representative Anna Eskamani is pushing for the state to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050, with shorter-term targets for state agencies and universities.
In Maine, State Representative Chloe Maxmin -- a climate activist since high school! -- sponsored her state's own "Green New Deal" legislation focusing on workforce retraining initiatives and providing solar installations on newly built schools.
And in Texas, State Representative Erin Zwiener introduced legislation to protect clean air and water by strengthening penalties for business who violate environmental regulations.

I'm proud to have worked with these candidates, but mostly, I believe more than ever that electing progressives to state and local governments is just as important as the presidential race, if not more. Taking on the climate crisis is going to take people at every level of government working together, and the first step? Getting those folks in office.
