Yes, friend, really.

Pennsylvania Republicans were so incensed by the state Supreme Court's ruling that struck down their gerrymandered congressional maps that they're now aiming to gerrymander the state Supreme Court itself! If that's not proof that the GOP has given up on democracy, I don't know what is.

Republicans have become so accustomed to winning elections through anti-democratic means (strict voter ID laws, closing polling places, restricting voting times, manipulating the maps, attempting to overturn the results in Congress, the list goes on) that when they're told gerrymandering violates Pennsylvania's state constitution, their response isn't to respect the law and move on. They're trying to take gerrymandering to the next level instead!

Unfortunately, the Republicans gave up on democracy a long time ago. We can't count on them to suddenly see the light, come to their senses, and start respecting the will of the voters. We have to be ready to counter their anti-democratic plots and make sure every voter's voice is heard in every election.

But that work takes resources, and with redistricting beginning again this year, those resources are all the more important.
