Joe Biden won the presidency in part by promising to govern as a moderate. By nominating Medicare for All fan Xavier Becerra to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, he’s doing just the opposite. The secretary-designate should take a long look at the long waits in Canada before even thinking about green-lighting state-level single-payer in the United States.

Some states are strangling healthcare providers with red tape. In December, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo threatened a $1 million fine for healthcare providers that vaccinated someone outside of the current priority group. Earlier this month, he announced a $100,000 fine for hospitals that didn’t administer their vaccine doses within a week of receipt.

COVID-19 Is Much Worse Than The Flu

Unlike the flu, which usually resolves within a week, symptoms following the acute phase of COVID-19 infection “recovery” often persist.
