John,

As our nation looks forward to tomorrow's inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and a much-needed return of reason, compassion, and experience in the White House, we have to remember the families that are struggling due to the pandemic.

The United States is dealing with an economic crisis unlike anything we've seen since the Great Depression. Estimates suggest that up to 18% of households with children are experiencing food insecurity this winter, nearly 20% of renters are behind on payments, and nearly 40% of adults are having trouble covering household expenses.

In each case, the stats are so much worse for Black and Latinx Americans. Every single job that was lost last month was from a woman of color.

People need help now. The $600 stimulus checks folks finally received this month just don't cut it.

That's why I'm asking you to join me in calling on Congress to immediately pass President-elect Biden's proposed legislation providing additional $1,400 relief checks so they can be approved by the end of January. Communities can only get through this crisis if our elected leaders give them the support they need. For too long, we've had an incompetent administration in charge of the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. I trust that the Biden-Harris administration will provide the effective, science-based leadership we need to begin to recover.

Now, Congress has to come together to pass their relief bill as soon as possible. We can't let workers and families suffer any longer.

John, take two minutes to add your name to this petition. We need to hold Congress accountable and demand that they make passing the Biden-Harris legislation their number one priority.

Thank you for taking action,

Christy
