We commissioned a study to explore the long-term impact of child sponsorship in Woliso, Ethiopia – and now, we're so excited to share all of the ways our child sponsorship program has helped create brighter futures for vulnerable children.

Our sponsors’ impact over a 10-year period was tremendous in Woliso, Ethiopia: Thanks to schools built and equipped by sponsors, children in Woliso received on average 4.5 additional years of schooling – which means they now have the tools they need to build a ladder out of poverty and reach their full potential.

Every $1 invested in clean water led to a 60% increase in benefits for children and family members, who spent less money treating illness, spent less time gathering water and were less likely to die prematurely.

Empowered by our sponsors’ support, we created lasting change for the entire community of Woliso. We changed attitudes toward sending girls to school and implemented health and nutritional programs that resulted in nationwide changes so children across the country could benefit.
