IPA's Executive Director Annie Duflo Profiled in The Wall Street Journal
The January 15 article covers the origins and evolution of IPA from a small nonprofit studying microfinance in Asia to a global organization that works more and more closely with governments to improve the lives of the poorest. Duflo, who joined IPA in 2008 and became our Executive Director in 2012, shares personal experiences that motivated her to work to make a social impact. As Duflo explains in the article, “Anecdotes and intuition aren’t enough to fight poverty. But nonprofits often don’t have the funds or capacity to study what works and what doesn’t. As a result, many governments and donors throw money at ineffective solutions.”
