Dear John,

Yesterday, many hundreds of gun violence prevention leaders and supporters travelled from across the country to gather on the National Mall for a rally to #EndGunViolence.

They went to remember the victims of these preventable tragedies and to pressure Congress to pass gun safety legislation.

The appalling reason why effective gun laws are so important? Because so far this year, as we march into Fall, there have already been:

• 10,906 gun deaths
• 21,646 gun injuries
• 510 children shot
• 2,262 teenagers shot
• 309 mass shootings
• 1,243 unintentional shootings

Our grassroots state leaders know we cannot afford to wait for even one more of our loved ones to be gunned down.

Our country’s adoration of guns cannot mean more than the life and well-being of our children, our families, and our communities.

It’s time to act. Now.
