After a long, dark night, the dawn is finally here – if we fight for it and protect it.
ON THE SAME DAY that Trump prepares to follow his pardons of cronies like Michael Flynn, Roger Stone, and Paul Manafort with roughly 100 more pardons or sentence commutations … that right-wing members of Congress scramble to rewrite the history of their incitement of insurrection … that, according to the FBI, the white supremacists and other extremists they incited plan violent attacks on our institutions of government…
Democrats in the Senate announce their top legislative priority, appropriately designated as Senate bill number S.1, will be the For the People Act – a sweeping package of democracy-strengthening reforms to protect voting rights, fight corruption, and drastically reduce the influence of Big Money in elections. It’s also House Democrats’ top priority with the House version of the bill already introduced as HR 1.
America readies for the swearing in of Kamala Harris as our first woman vice president, our first Black vice president, and our first Asian-American vice president.

President-elect Biden – who has already announced historic actions he’ll take to restore fairness and equality, such as ENDING Trump’s bigoted Muslim Ban, on Day One of his presidency – announces the nomination of Rachel Levine for assistant health secretary, opening the door for the first openly transgender official to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
These are just some examples of how, despite the division, lies, and violence carefully nurtured and unleashed by the Far Right, America is already looking a lot more like the America we want and need.
But the success of the vision being laid out by our movement and by this new administration and new Congress will depend on our ability to punch through and expose right-wing lies, and rally grassroots support for a progressive policy agenda.
