Friend,
As we take a moment today to reflect
on the remarkable spirit and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,
it’s impossible not to feel as if his life’s work -- advancing the
causes of justice, non-violence, and civil rights -- is under
attack.
Two weeks ago, an armed mob of
extremists stormed the Capitol, parading hate symbols like the
confederate flag through its storied halls. It was a dark, shameful
day that shook the very foundation of our country to its core, one
that couldn’t have been more divergent from the America that Dr. King
envisioned -- an America that lives up to its promise of freedom and
equality for all.
We have a long road ahead of us, but
I’m as committed as ever to honoring Dr. King’s life by championing
the rights of all people, be it our right to vote, our right to
protest peacefully, and our right to equality under the law. And as we
look ahead to President Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday, I feel as
hopeful as ever that we can, once again, work to make Dr. King’s
vision a reality.
Thank you for your continued support
in this shared fight, Ted
