John,

After a tumultuous year, today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Many of us are looking forward to the swearing in of President-elect Joe Biden and hopefully the return of peace. But on this solemn holiday, I'm thinking about how Dr. King taught us that true peace comes when all citizens are treated fairly, with dignity, and with respect.

That work is ongoing, and we can't let up. We have an opportunity in the coming weeks and months to bend the arc of the moral universe closer to justice. So while today we take time to remember his legacy, tomorrow we must continue his fight for equality for all Americans.

Yours,
Matt
