As Reagan said, "history will record our actions — or lack thereof — with astonishment and sorrow."

WHAT NEWT'S THINKING Our Time for Choosing [[link removed]]

By Newt Gingrich

In 1964, Ronald Reagan delivered a speech titled “A Time for Choosing,” which immediately made him a star in the Republican Party. The whole speech is well worth reading, but one line strikes me as especially relevant today.

Reagan explained that if we lose our freedoms in America, “history will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening.” He continued: “If we lose freedom here, there's no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.”

Powerful words. And they’re true.

I bring up Reagan’s speech because it pairs well with a recent, must-read column by Dennis Prager, one of the great intellectuals of our time who has taught millions of people how to think.

Prager writes about the “good German,” a term used to describe the ordinary German who did not harm Jews during Hitler’s rule but also didn’t help them or attempt to stop the Nazis. We tend to hold such people in contempt for doing nothing in the face of astonishing barbarism.

Yet, many Republicans are now caving to these left-wing forces in a moment of vulnerability, which Democrats and their allies in the media are using to their full advantage.

But, Prager continues, the last few years have taught him not to judge the good German so quickly. Why? Because of “the ease with which tens of millions of Americans have accepted irrational, unconstitutional, and unprecedented police state-type restrictions on their freedoms, including even the freedom to make a living.”

Think about it. There’s no secret police force ready to kidnap or kill any American who opposes the government. There are no pogroms. And yet, we as a country have allowed our liberty to erode at the hands of cultural and political elites — and now Big Tech — who desire power to impose their will on the American people.

I discuss this deeply troubling trend with Prager on this week’s episode [[link removed]] of my podcast, “Newt’s World.” We analyze just how egregious the assaults on our freedoms are and what ordinary Americans can do about it.

Back in June 2020, Newt warned us about what a radical first year of a Biden-Harris-Pelosi-Schumer machine would look like, click here to read [[link removed]]. Also, he laid out Speaker Pelosi's radical plans in a series of podcasts on Pelosi's $3 trillion bill [[link removed]]. Most recently, he released a podcast entitled, " Bipartisan Baloney [[link removed]]." The staff at Gingrich 360 is going to continue Newt's theme in this weekly content section. We will outline radical pieces of legislation introduced at the federal and state levels that showcase just how extreme the Democrats are. As Joe Biden put it, "we won't just rebuild this nation — we'll transform it."

Nuking the Electoral College [[link removed]]

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) and eight Democratic co-sponsors have introduced a bill in the House of Representatives to abolish the Electoral College and establish a direct popular vote system to elect the President and Vice President of the United States. The current system has yielded undivided Democratic rule in Washington, DC, but the mere possibility that the Electoral College could once again elect a Republican president is enough to convince Democrats to work to prevent that outcome. Even in a moment of total victory, Democrats strive to ensure they never lose again.

More than 5.8 million Americans today are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and by 2050 that number could reach up to 13.8 million. This staggering rate of diagnosis makes the disease the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. Millions of other Americans are caregivers for friends or family with this difficult disease — a responsibility which often takes a serious toll of its own.

Finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia is critical. This is the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association, which was founded in 1980 to promote scientific and medical breakthroughs to cure the disease and to improve care for those living with it.

We all know someone whose life has been changed by Alzheimer’s disease. For 40 years, the Alzheimer’s Association has been their leading champion and has done so with private funding. Its contributions to scientific research and to the well-being of Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers have been and remain vitally important.

Please join the Gingrich Foundation in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association today.
