The risk of exposure to COVID-19 is still very real— it's surging to record levels in Los Angeles, the US, and the world.
We need to be extra vigilant and mitigate the risks of infection, particularly for those who are older or who have pre-existing conditions. For the sake of our collective health, please remember to wear a mask when you leave your home, practice social distancing, and wash your hands frequently. This pandemic has shown us that the health of one is the health of all so we all need to take responsibility for our common well-being.
There are some easy ways to safely stay connected to the chapter, such as: signing-up on the front page of our website to receive our weekly newsletter, checking the calendar on the site for upcoming virtual events, and joining DSA-LA’s Slack.

NOTE: Due to a change in bylaws, all members will be eligible to vote for leaders of all committees. Even if you are unable to regularly attend committee meetings, you can still have a say in who the leaders of the chapter are! |

DSA has joined an international call to protest the war on Yemen. As such, DSA-LA will cohost a car caravan around the consulate of Saudi Arabia with CODEPINK! The Saudi coalition has been bombing and blockading Yemen for almost six years now, creating the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. The U.S. has supplied the Saudis with critical material and logistical support throughout the war, ensuring that the conflict continues as long as it continues to profit American contractors and weapons manufacturers.

Having just gone public for more than $100 BILLION during a pandemic, “distinguished” Olympic partner Airbnb is incentivizing the commodification of neighborhoods while catering to wealthy tourists and pricing residents out of their communities. Launching this Tuesday, January 19th, NOlympics-LA and the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project have built an organizing tool called LOCKS ON MY BLOCKS to report & track illegal Airbnbs in our city. Donate To Elect DSA-LA Members To Neighborhood Councils! |

DSA-LA's Neighborhood Council Project seeks to create collective power within the Neighborhood Council system to hold City Council accountable to the demands of the working class. The 99 Neighborhood Councils serve as an advisory board to the city, but most current Neighborhood Council representatives advocate for policies that hurt the working class, unhoused individuals, and people of color. This project intends to change that and to create a city that is capable of meeting the needs of every community. Your donation will be used to purchase flyers, door hangers, and social media ads to win Neighborhood Council seats across the city. With as little as $5, you can help us reach 25 voters! If you would like to donate to a specific candidate, please submit their name and Neighborhood Council. Otherwise, funds will be distributed equitably according to need. |

By going over some basic internet and communications security practices, we can help each other build safeguards and better habits to talk and share information. We will go over a few simple steps for better internet browsing, alternative forms of chat, and learn some easy and quick practices to help safeguard our communications. We also seek to engage with those who view housing inequality and the criminalization of poverty as normal or immutable to shake them from their complacency, and encourage them to organize with us and join us in demanding a society that provides a dignified home for everyone.
