John,

Today marks Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a solemn holiday for our nation. Today we remember the life and legacy of one of our nation's greatest civil rights leaders. And we redouble our efforts to live our lives guided by his teachings. Our progress forward is not finished, and it's on us to continue that work.

As Dr. King once said “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.”

Even now, 50 years since his death, we must continue that march toward justice. Particularly now, as we face a year that began with hate and division, we must remember his words and remember that we will rise above when we stand united and demand a better future.

As we take this time to remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we must remember his message of hope in a time of darkness.

Thank you for standing together and continuing our nation's long march toward justice.
