John,
Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man who dedicated his life to the pursuit of freedom and justice for all Americans.
Having been born in Selma, Alabama, I will always remember his tireless efforts to achieve equality.
Even after the march he led from Selma to Montgomery was met with hatred and violence, Dr. King was undeterred in his mission to peacefully bring about change to our country.
Today, as we face hatred-fueled rioters fighting against everything Dr. King stood for, his words are more poignant than ever.
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
So today, I urge you to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by continuing his fight for freedom, equality, and justice -- for everyone, everywhere.
Thank you and take care,
Suzan DelBene
