John, Earlier this month, Georgia made history electing its first Black U.S. senator, Reverend Raphael Warnock. This was a victory decades in the making, made possible by the Civil Rights Movement led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and carried on by organizers and volunteers -- many of whom were led by women of color.
This is only the beginning. Georgia showed us that through hard work and organizing our communities, we can bring more people into the political process. We can continue striving to fulfill our potential as a democracy -- one where every eligible voter participates in every election without unnecessary barriers. We have a long road ahead of us, especially as we begin to heal the divisions in our nation, but that never stopped Dr. King. I’m excited to continue working together to educate voters and build a stronger, more inclusive democracy. It’s never been more important. Thanks for being in this fight with us.
