Dear John,

Actions speak louder than words.

After promising we’d keep our workplace standards, the government plans to rip up our rights.

In December 2019, Boris Johnson won the election on a manifesto promising Brexit would “raise standards in areas like workers’ rights”.  <[link removed]>Now, workers’ rights - enshrined in EU law - could be stripped away.

Since we’ve left the transition period, the government is showing us what Brexit has always been about. It is looking at scrapping the ‘working hours directive’, which ensures no one is forced to work longer than 48-hours in a week.

And that is just one cut in a package of deregulation measures that have been discussed, from cutting holiday pay entitlements <[link removed]>to loosening rules requiring breaks at work.

Sign the open letter to the Prime Minister, and call on him to guarantee we maintain equivalence with EU working rights. Demand the Prime Minster makes good on his promise to the British people.

At a time when so many people are losing their jobs, this is a disgrace. Low-paid employees could be forced to work dangerously long hours just to make ends meet or to keep their jobs.

Working people rely on these basic safety nets for survival.

This government wants to use our exit from the EU to lower standards, from environmental protections to food safety <[link removed]>, from employment rights to deregulating the City of London's financial markets.

The government already wants the UK to go back to using bee-toxic Neonicotinoids pesticides, which have been banned by the EU for good reason.

We need your help. We need to stop them cutting standards and stripping away rights now we’re out of the EU.

Sign the open letter today, and take your stand against the bonfire of regulations.

Boris Johnson is taking the first steps towards wrecking our hard-won worker’s rights.

He promised rights would not be lost. He argued Brexit was an opportunity to raise British standards. Let's hold him to that. <[link removed]>

Best wishes,

Cary Mitchell,

Director of Operations
