No one will deny that it's been a tumultuous few weeks. On the same day we learned that Democrats -- powered by Black and Latino voters -- took control of the Senate, a mob motivated by racial hatred and disinformation carried out an attempted coup.

But today, on the day we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we at Voto Latino are looking forward. While we have much work to do, we believe there are brighter days ahead. Those days will begin with President-elect Biden's assumption of the office of the president, with the first woman and first woman of color vice president, Kamala Harris, and with the first Black senator representing Georgia, Rev. Raphael Warnock.

Dr. King's work directly led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act. In recent years the Voting Rights Act has been weakened by politicians who don't truly believe in democracy – and that's why the work of Voto Latino is so critical. We fight tirelessly against the barriers put up by those politicians to expand the voting base in this country and make sure that the voices of Latino and Afro-Latino Americans are heard.

This work proved to be of utmost importance in 2020, and as we move into another challenging year and political cycle, its importance will only grow. That's why, in the spirit of Dr. King's work to make every American a true and equal citizen, we are asking you to consider Voto Latino as one of the organizations you donate to today.

Your donation will help us build an America where everyone has a voice. Please chip in now if you can.
