Hey,

Today, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are just days away from a new chapter of American history.

On Wednesday, Kamala Harris will become the first Black woman to become Vice President. She and President-elect Joe Biden will both take the oath of office, and together, they will get to work to restore and advance civil rights for millions of Americans.

None of this could have been possible without the work of people like Dr. King and the many who came before him, who fought beside him, and who have carried the torch onward for nearly six decades, including the late John Lewis.

Like Kamala and Joe, all of them embraced a spirit of service to humanity, and today, I want to ask you to take part in a National Day of Service to celebrate Dr. King's life and the future we're building together.

Will you take part in today's National Day of Service? Find an opportunity to serve virtually or in person in your community today.

A great deal of work lies ahead of us to build a better future for our communities and make our country more equal.

We must rebuild our economy so that it works for all; reform our criminal justice system; restore the Voting Rights Act; and ensure that every American child is guaranteed quality, affordable early care and learning. Once Joe and Kamala take the oath of office tomorrow, our country will be in better hands, but we all must stay engaged and do our part.

So today, I ask you to do your part in your own community. Find an opportunity to take part in today's National Day of Service now.

No matter where you are today, I hope you'll take the time to reflect on how we all can serve our communities, make our nation stronger, and fight to ensure that everyone has a chance at the American Dream, just as Dr. King did.

Thank you for all that you do,

Bob Casey
