Dear John,

In the midst of a frightening rise in white supremacist violence, we will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. tomorrow.

Over the past four years--especially the past two weeks--we’ve been reminded constantly of how much work remains in the fight to fulfill Dr. King’s dream. Tomorrow’s holiday is a reminder that real change is possible, and we all play a role in helping our nation become a more perfect union.

In just four days, the White House will no longer be home to someone who incites violence and fans the flames of racism. Instead, we’ll have a President and Vice President committed to healing our nation, bringing people together, and standing up for equality and justice. Inauguration day cannot come soon enough.

In the meantime, the Biden Inaugural Committee is hosting a National Day of Service to honor Dr. King’s legacy and help those in need during this challenging time. If you have some time tomorrow, I highly encourage you to join an in-person or virtual event and give back to our community.
