The Washington Post: "Twitter ... purged more than 70,000 accounts affiliated with conspiracy theory QAnon following the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol."
After years of inaction, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, and other tech giants are trying to rein in the flurry of false information that has exploded on their platforms -- one that analysts agree contributed to the organization of the attack on the Capitol that cost the lives of five Americans.
Both Twitter and Facebook also removed Donald Trump's accounts, according to WaPo, "citing the potential that his corrosive rhetoric might incite additional violence."
Even though studies have shown that social media platforms have been used to spread fake news online and incite violence, many conservatives are accusing Big Tech of being friendly to Democrats and "censoring" conservative speech.
