People For Member, Community service is joyous. Our communities are the places where we nurture the next generation; where we celebrate our wins and where we build back together after our losses. We love our communities, and in the ongoing waves of the pandemic, our communities nationwide need our help. Tomorrow is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday traditionally reserved for acts of service. We’re inviting you to spark joy for yourself and for others by giving back to your community, either virtually or in person while following public health guidelines. In honor of Dr. King, the Biden Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) has been gathering resources for people across the country to participate in acts of service. In addition to using this day to organize or explore service opportunities where you live, you can check out the PIC’s huge collection of events on Mobilize! Give back to your community by signing up for one of tomorrow’s service events! >> From letter-writing to fundraising to drives for blood, food, and reproductive health products, the PIC has curated a varied list of ways that you can get involved tomorrow. Most volunteer activities only require an hour or two of your time, and all events will be either virtual or socially distanced and masked. “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'” Dr. King’s words reflect the daily mantra of People For’s member and activist community. Tomorrow, the whole country has the opportunity for a shared experience of service, even if we cannot do so in person. Sign up today for a National Day of Service event! >> Together, we will make a difference as we head into a week of celebration for a new administration focused on helping the American people. In community, Sarah, People For the American Way
