Friends,

Tomorrow, on MLK Day, we will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Lurther King Jr. And we can be certain one of his most famous quotes will be seen many times over: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice."

In these dark times, this quote should give us hope and optimism that there are better days ahead for our nation. But we must also remember: Dr. King and his fellow freedom fighters knew that the moral arc does not bend on its own -- it's on all of us to work towards justice and progress. Each and every one of us can be of service to our community.

So tomorrow, to honor the spirit of Dr. King, the Inauguration of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris is encouraging Americans to join them in a National Day of Service. I encourage you to volunteer and sign up today! [[link removed]]

SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY [[link removed]]

As we honor Dr. King, his vision, and his activism within the Civil Rights Movement, we must recommit to never be silent in the face of the injustices we see around us. We must keep fighting for the same causes that he championed -- civil rights, workers' rights, and voting rights.

After all, as Dr. King also put it, "the time is always right to do what is right."

So, I hope that you will join me tomorrow in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy by serving your community and continuing his fight for justice and equity for all.

In solidarity,

Congressman Gerry Connolly
Virginia's 11th District
