KENNEDY INSTITUTE ENCOURAGES YOU TO JOIN
MONDAY'S NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE
In addition to celebrating what would have been the 92nd birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Monday has been set as a National Day of Service by thousands of organizations across our country, including the inaugural committee for our new president-elect and vice-president elect.
On behalf of all our colleagues at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, we want to encourage you as you are able to join this day of national service. You can search for COVID-safe opportunities near you by visiting this Americorps website https://americorps.gov/join/find-volunteer-opportunity?algolia-select-distance=17014#q=MLK and entering your ZIP code to see opportunities anywhere from 5 to 50 miles from where you live.
In this fractious and frightening moment in our nation’s history, we can think of few better things for Americans to do than to come together in reaching out to serve those in need, in hunger, and in danger. As Senator Kennedy once famously said: "For all my years in public life, I have believed that America must sail toward the shores of liberty and justice for all. There is no end to that journey, only the next great voyage. We know the future will outlast all of us, but I believe that all of us will live on in the future we make."
Monday can be a day we all do what we can to make that better future for America. We encourage you to celebrate Dr. King, Senator Kennedy, and devoted positive change-makers throughout our history and join in the National Day of Service. Thank you.
