WATCH: Tom talks about his lifelong love of the Packers [[link removed]]

It's been a rough first few weeks of 2021, but today, we get to take a break from politics. In Wisconsin, all eyes are on our beloved Packers.

As a life-long Wisconsinite, the Packers have a special place in my heart. So many of my most cherished memories are set at Lambeau Field. I was seven years old when I went to my first regular-season game, the iconic 1983 Monday Night matchup against Washington. We won on a late touchdown and missed field goal and I don't think I'd ever experienced so much excitement. I spent birthday parties at the Packers Hall of Fame and gave my bike to players during training camp. My wife Maria even worked in the Packers' press box.

The Packers aren't just a sports team — they're also a part of Wisconsin's rich progressive tradition. They are the only American professional sports team that is owned by the community. Over 300,000 shareholders have a piece of the Packers, each with a vote in some of the team's important decisions. This community model ensures that the Packers never leave Green Bay, even if there's a lot of money to be made elsewhere. They truly embody the Wisconsin spirit.

Today the Packers begin another Super Bowl run. The community will come together — socially distanced — to root them on. I'll be watching with family, pulling for the hometown team.

Tom Nelson serves as County Executive for Outagamie, one of the worst-hit COVID areas in the nation. Local officials have been leading our country through the pandemic because Donald Trump and Ron Johnson have failed. Tom is running for U.S. Senate because we need real leaders in Washington who will take COVID seriously. And if we can take on a pandemic, we can take on anything. And if you can win in a red county six times, you can win anywhere. If you’d like to unsubscribe, click here. [[link removed]]
