The Hill: “Capitol security officials are warning lawmakers that thousands of extremist supporters of President Trump are planning to try to storm the Capitol ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.”
We all know what Trump’s most extreme supporters are capable of, but the good news is that our nation’s capital is thoroughly prepared to welcome Joe Biden’s presidency with support from National Guard members and reinforcements from state troopers.
The Washington Post has reported that “the more Americans renounce violence in conversations … the more likely people will consider violence an illegitimate political strategy.”
We must ensure that the division and violence we’ve seen ends with Trump’s term, and we must send a clear message that the American people will hold these extremists accountable. That’s why we’re asking you today:
Will you denounce political violence?
