Mercy Corps is there, assessing needs and ready to respond

Families in Indonesia are assessing the damage in their
communities after a powerful 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook the island of
Sulawesi yesterday morning. Reports suggest at least 46 people were killed
and hundreds more are injured or missing. Thankfully, all of our Mercy
Corps team members in Indonesia are safe and accounted for.

This is Indonesia’s third deadly disaster in a week. Within a matter of
seconds, the quake toppled buildings and homes, flattened a hospital and
set off landslides across the island. Our Indonesia Response Team is hard
at work assessing the impact on communities, and determining if Mercy
Corps’ support is needed to help people meet urgent needs.

In times of crisis, Mercy Corps is there, in more than 40 countries around
the world. [ [link removed] ]Please make an emergency gift by donating to our

For two decades, Mercy Corps has responded to earthquakes in Indonesia,
like this one in Lombok in August 2018 that displaced more than 165,000
people.
Around the world, Mercy Corps teams work tirelessly to help families
recover from crises sparked by natural disasters, COVID‑19, conflict,
poverty and climate change. When crises strike, our teams are already on
the ground where help is most needed. Today, we are responding to urgent
needs and helping people to build better futures in more than 40 countries
including Yemen, Syria, Colombia, South Sudan, DR Congo and Bangladesh.

gift helps prepare our teams to respond in critical moments like
yesterday’s earthquake — and gives families the resources they need to
survive and prosper.

Thank you for being there for the people around the world when disaster
strikes.

Sincerely,

Pete Lewis
