Between 2016 and 2020, 134 billionaires donated nearly $236 million to Donald Trump and his super PACs.
John,
Since the 1/6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, we’ve seen a potential shift in the Republican Party with 10 House Republicans voting to impeach Donald Trump.
But we’ve also seen millions of Trump supporters―and a lot of Republican members of Congress―remain unrepentant for their support of the president and for his actions inciting a violent insurrectionist mob.
Over the last week, there have been appropriate calls to hold members of Congress accountable for their potential role in the attack on the Capitol. But, Trump’s support goes beyond elected officials and right-wing activists. His supporters include millionaires and billionaires whose only ideology is greed―putting their own self interests ahead of the needs of our country and our people.
Between 2016 and 2020, 134 billionaires donated nearly $236 million to Donald Trump and his super PACs, according to a new ATF analysis of the OpenSecrets campaign contributions data.
They knew full well that in supporting Trump, they were making a deal with the devil―trading attacks on our democracy and Trump’s relentless racism and bigotry for their beloved tax cuts.
This is a moment that demands accountability―from the president and his violent mob to the billionaires who bankrolled him and this white nationalist movement of hate.
Thank you for all that you do demanding truth, justice and equality.
