Dear John,

Procter & Gamble promised to end deforestation by 2020 and failed. Demand it take real action to halt its destruction.

Procter & Gamble is the world’s largest consumer goods company. It has a long history of destroying and degrading forests from Borneo to the Boreal. Last year the company’s shareholders voted overwhelmingly for the company to halt these practices. Take action now.

To source pulp for Charmin Toilet Paper, Procter & Gamble’s suppliers clear cut Canadian Boreal forests, known as the “Amazon of the North.” These forests shelter vast herds of caribou and have been protected for millennia by the Indigenous peoples that call the Boreal forests home. Across the world, Procter & Gamble’s palm oil suppliers devastate Indonesia’s tropical rainforests to provide ingredients for its soaps and shampoos.

In 2020, a full two-thirds of Procter & Gamble’s shareholders voted to make the company end the destruction. John, can we count on your help to make Procter & Gamble honor its promises?

Tell Procter & Gamble and its top shareholders to take real action to halt deforestation!

Procter & Gamble needs to stop the tree-to-toilet pipeline behind its paper products. Instead of using materials from precious forests, the company should use recycled materials, sustainable fibers and responsible sourcing methods. Instead of allowing rainforests to burn, Procter & Gamble needs to listen to the Indigenous communities that are directly impacted by its bad business, and to take their lead in saving Indonesia’s last wild jungles.

Procter & Gamble’s destructive path is not just bad for the planet -- it’s also bad business. But we can’t let the company determine its own way forward. We need people like you to push them every step of the way. And the best way to do that is to let Procter & Gamble’s shareholders know the pressure is on.

Tell Procter & Gamble and its top shareholders to halt deforestation.

Public pension funds like CalPERS and massive money managers like BlackRock, State Street and Vanguard have hundreds of billions invested in Procter & Gamble. These shareholders have every incentive to stop the company from engaging in practices that harm its business.

Concerned activists like you can stop Procter & Gamble from papering over its abuses or washing away the stain of its bad practices.

Procter & Gamble’s investors have the ability to make that happen. And we need your help to keep the pressure on to ensure they handle the job.

Tell Procter & Gamble and its shareholders to end forest destruction once and for all!

Standing with you,
Jeff Conant,
