Friend,

Earlier this month, we all watched in horror as the outgoing President of the United States incited an insurrection and attempted to overthrow the results of a free and fair election.

That’s why, a few days ago, I fulfilled my duty to the Constitution and my sacred Oath of Office by voting to impeach President Trump.

At such a fragile moment for our country, where the very foundation of our democracy is at stake, political convenience must come second to doing what is right.

As we move forward, that’s my pledge to you as the Representative for Georgia’s 7th District: to do what is right to the best of my ability, to uphold the U.S. Constitution, and to protect and strengthen our country and our democracy.

In just a few days, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will be sworn in. It’s my hope that, together, we can work to build a stronger country -- to put an end to the conspiracy theories that fueled the riots and attack on the Capitol, and turn our attention to the crises of COVID and the pressing issues of health care reform, inequity, the climate crisis and much-needed investment in our communities.

I’m honored to be serving you in Congress. I’m humbled by the task before me and my colleagues at this critical moment. And I’m committed to fighting for our democracy with everything I’ve got.

Thank you,

Carolyn
