Hey John -
Dan Crenshaw here.
This week, I voted against the second impeachment of President Trump, was selected to serve on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, and called out liberal media personalities for demonizing tens of millions of Americans who voted for President Trump.

WHY I VOTED AGAINST IMPEACHMENT
There are three simple reasons why I voted against the second Democrat effort to impeach President Trump:
1. The legal standard for incitement is high, and requires specific direction and intent, which is lacking here. If we impeached on this standard, many Democrat members of Congress should also be removed from office for last summer’s riots.
2. There is a week left in his term - not nearly enough time for due process and a thorough investigation.
3. We need de-escalation, not escalation.
But rather than focus on the “healing and unity” that Democrats promised, Nancy Pelosi rushed another frivolous impeachment of President Trump through the House of Representatives.
This will do nothing to bring the country together. That’s why I voted against it.

MY SELECTION TO THE POWERFUL HOUSE ENERGY AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE
The House Energy and Commerce Committee is the oldest committee in Congress. It has the broadest jurisdiction of any committee in the House of Representatives - with control over everything from health care and energy policy to telecommunications and interstate and foreign commerce.
Someone once said of the Energy and Commerce jurisdiction: “If it moves, it’s energy. If it doesn’t, it’s commerce.” The Energy and Commerce Committee covers virtually every policy that moves through Congress.
And I have been selected to serve on this powerful committee.
Here are the policy priorities I will fight for on the Energy and Commerce Committee:
HEALTH CARE - Houston is the health care and medical innovation capital of the world. But Democrat policies like Medicare for All and drug price controls would be devastating to the Houston health care sector. These policies will be debated before the Energy and Commerce Committee this year, and you can bet that I will fiercely defend our community from these dangerous proposals. I’ll also work on the committee to provide access to personalized, affordable health care and lower your drug costs without destroying the medical innovation we rely upon to deliver cures to Americans.
ENERGY - Houston is also the energy capital of the world. And with Democrats marching toward the Green New Deal and banning fracking, more than 250,000 oil and gas jobs in our community are in danger. I will never stop fighting to protect Texas energy jobs, our energy economy, and American energy independence that is critical to Houston’s success.
ENVIRONMENT - I’ve said for a long time that we need to stop offering Americans a false choice of inaction or economy-crushing regulations when it comes to reducing emissions. We can protect our environment AND our economy at the same time. I’ve written about this and passed two bills into law in my first term that relies on innovation - not government mandates - to reduce emissions while protecting American energy dominance.
These are the priorities I’ll continue to fight for because they are Houston’s priorities. I promise to put our community first on the Energy and Commerce Committee.

THIS WAS ALWAYS THEIR PLAN
CNN’s Don Lemon labeled tens of millions of Americans as white supremacists and KKK sympathizers this week. His reasoning? They voted for President Trump.
This was always the left’s plan. It’s not enough that their favorite villain is gone. Now they have to go after millions of everyday Americans who voted for President Trump because they supported his policies.
It is truly vile, but incredibly predictable. We are still waiting for the healing and unity that the left promised after this election.
But actions speak louder than words.
