Hi John,
I'm still not sure how to start this email.
I've begun a couple of dozen different ways and nothing meets the moment we're living in, so I'll just lay it out: Terrorists stormed the capital.
They brought bombs, symbols of hate, guns, and even zip ties to take hostages -- all in the hopes of destroying American democracy and crowning Trump as dictator in chief.
But know this: While I am certainly devastated and outraged, I am also
ferociously hopeful. Here's why...
As you and I watched tens-of-thousands of people attack the Capitol,
our Capitol, hundreds of young people raised their hands to run for office.
In fact, since January 6th, more than 1,400 people have signed up to Run for Something.
In the face of violence, fascism, corruption, hate, and ignorance -- more than a thousand young people decided they would not sit on the sidelines and let our democracy die quietly.
And you and I, John, we're going to help elect them to state and local office.
If you're in, chip in $5 or more to ensure RFS can continue recruiting, training, supporting, and electing diverse, young progressives to state and local government. Together, we can definitively root out Trump Republicans at every level.
John, here's your Run for Something Roundup for January:
