Why do companies like Amazon, Comcast, Facebook and Google need to review
their policies for political contributions? The choice for these companies
couldn’t be clearer: They need to permanently drop their support for Ted
Cruz, Josh Hawley, Kevin McCarthy and the other lawmakers who committed
sedition when they attempted to overturn the 2020 election.

These legislators relied on racist conspiracy theories to justify their
acts — and big media and tech played a critical role in allowing these
lies to spread. [ [link removed] ]Tell all media and tech companies to step up now — and
commit to never again funding these insurrectionist Republicans.

The 147 seditious members of Congress who attempted to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 election have begun to pay a political price ... or have they?

In response to Jan. 6’s white-supremacist attack on the Capitol, Amazon, Comcast, Facebook and Google paused their political contributions to “review their policies.”[1] But we have seen media and tech companies voice good intentions and then reverse course too many times.

In today’s daily action to fight the forces that drove the Jan. 6 insurrection, join us in demanding that all media and tech companies permanently stop all contributions to the 147 seditious senators and representatives.

These companies bear great responsibility for the events of Jan. 6, having profited from white supremacists and conspiracy theorists using their platforms and airwaves to spread disinformation and incite violence. Until recently, AT&T, Comcast, Facebook and Google were even members of the right-wing American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a corporate group responsible for voter-suppression laws that disenfranchise communities of color.

Right now, some tech companies are finally adopting some of the policy changes we’ve long advocated for. But history has shown that once public attention shifts, these companies go back to making the same mistakes all over again. We need to ramp up the pressure so big media and tech don’t go back to supporting lawmakers who are undermining our democracy.

Tell media and tech companies: You helped create this mess. Now, you need to help us fix it — commit to a permanent ban on donations to the Republicans who attempted to disenfranchise millions of voters on Jan. 6.

The 147 seditious members of Congress attempted to use their power to suppress the votes of Black and Brown communities — which resulted in insurrectionists storming the Capitol bearing Confederate flags, swastikas and other white-supremacist symbols. The lawmakers’ role in this racist coup cannot be allowed to stand.

These elected officials have been key players in the rise of disinformation and hate — and white supremacists have heard their support loud and clear.

These Republicans must be held accountable for their seditious acts.

Big media and tech helped amplify the lies and hateful rhetoric that spurred an insurrection. The choice for companies like Amazon, Comcast, Facebook and Google is clear: Stop contributing to Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Kevin McCarthy and the rest of the 147 seditious members of Congress.

Thank you for everything you’re doing to protect our democracy and our safety — and remember to look out for more daily actions through Inauguration Day.

P.S. QAnon would not be as widespread without Facebook’s complicity. Or without Amazon’s willingness to look the other way as Parler relied on its hosting service to foment hateful delusions. Tell Big media and tech to accept their responsibility and permanently end all support for the 147 members of Congress who attempted to overturn the 2020 election.
