Dear John,
We wanted to let you know about an opportunity to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday.
The NAACP in Maine and the MLK Steering Committee will host the 40th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Observance this Monday, January 18th from 9 AM to 7 PM.
This annual observance is the largest celebration held in our state in his honor. While this event is usually in-person, it has been transformed this year into a Virtual Teach-In and Call to Action to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Click here to register for this event. Monday’s event is a wonderful chance to learn, take action, and celebrate Black leadership on this important day. Click here to take a look at the schedule for the day [[link removed]] and select the sessions that you would like to attend.
Warmly,
Stacie Haines
PS Please read this note from the event organizers: Tickets this year will be sold on a sliding scale, ranging from free to $100. We encourage those who can to help cover the costs for those who are unable to pay for a ticket this year. No one will be turned away. Money raised through tickets and sponsorships will help offer honoraria to presenters and musicians and to seed a new fund to create fellowships, internships and other paid opportunities for African Americans, Latinx, Indigenous and other people of color to advance racial equity and justice in our public policy.
