My friend,

This weekend, thousands of young people across Minnesota, and many, many more across the country joined together to demand solutions to the climate crisis.

They’re looking at their future, and they’re anxious. They know they will bear the consequences if we fail to act, and they’re watching as the Trump administration sets us all on a path to disaster, from withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement to dismantling the Clean Power Plan and more.

To let them know I’m listening, I issued a proclamation to declare it “Climate Week” in Minnesota. But these young activists deserve something far more important than our recognition. They deserve action, and if Washington won’t lead on climate, Minnesota will.

That’s why today, I announced Clean Cars Minnesota – a brand new initiative to reduce carbon emissions by implementing clean car standards and increasing the choices Minnesotans have when it comes to purchasing electric cars.

As I move forward with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to enact this urgent plan, I remain focused on working with the legislature to lead Minnesota to 100% carbon-free electricity by 2050. I won’t stop fighting until we get it done, but I can’t do it alone.

If you agree that climate change is an existential threat, I’m asking for your help ahead of our September 30th end-of-quarter deadline. Please contribute $5 or more to our campaign so we can elect allies in 2020 who will work with us to take the bold steps necessary to address it.

Climate change threatens the very things that make Minnesota a great place to live, from our magnificent 10,000 lakes to our farmable land and clean air.

We can and will take historic action to reduce carbon emissions, protect public health, create jobs, and ensure our state is at the forefront of the Green Economy.

Our campaign team is already laying the groundwork to take back the Minnesota Senate in 2020 and elect allies who will help us get the job done. Please make a contribution that works for you today so they can keep it up. I’m counting on you.

Thank you,

Tim Walz
