Citizens for Schimpf

Friend --

I've seen a lot of disappointing things happen in my four years as an Illinois State Senator for the 58th District, but what happened on Wednesday morning was a new low.?

After a night of twisting arms, the Illinois Senate passed the Democrats' Criminal Justice Omnibus bill, HB 3653, at 4:45AM. Later that day, it passed the House with the minimum of 60 votes and now awaits action by Governor JB Pritzker. ?

It is bad enough that every major law enforcement group in Illinois opposed the bill. It is downright disgraceful how they were shut out from negotiating the bill's provisions.

The law enforcement community puts their lives in danger every day for us. We at least owed it to them to a follow a transparent, regular process when considering a bill that will make their jobs more dangerous and difficult.

If you agree with me that this bill and the process by which it passed the Illinois General Assembly are a travesty, please join me in signing a petition urging Governor Pritzker to veto it.?

I don't know when Governor Pritzker will take action on the bill, but I will transmit our petition signatures to him at the beginning of next week.

You can sign the petition by following this link:?https://www.schimpf4illinois.com/protect_law_enforcement.

Thanks for reading and S/F,
