Last Wednesday is not entirely a story of incompetence on the part of law enforcement.

Justice Democrats

John,

Our nation is still reeling from the violent attempted coup in our Capitol last Wednesday, carried out by white supremacists and emboldened by fascists. Five people lost their lives, while the rest of us look for a way forward.

That’s why I’m introducing the Congressional Oversight of Unjust Policing Act to uncover how this attack was able to breach the Capitol building. This bill will establish a commission to investigate the attack, along with the ties between white supremacists and Capitol Police.

Will you join me and add your name as a co-signer to my bill in support of establishing a commission to investigate ties between white supremacists and Capitol Police?

Wednesday was not entirely a story of incompetence on the part of law enforcement, so we have to ask:

Did some of those charged with protecting us willingly lay down their posts?

Was there a coordinated effort to take over the United States government with violence?

How on earth did a group of armed, violent insurrectionists march into one of the most secure buildings on Earth and force members of Congress to hide under their desks?

Why was our government so outrageously and dangerously unprepared to deal with an attack we knew was coming?

Whatever the answers may be, John, the fact that a fascist mob was able to overtake our Capitol is unacceptable. This bill will be a step forward for us to take action to understand who, and what, allowed it.

Join me and other progressive lawmakers and organizations to add your name to my bill so we can bring the American people the answers we deserve.

Peace and love,

Jamaal Bowman
