Here’s the deal:

I ran for Senate to fight for the people -- not corporate donors.

And I’m so incredibly proud our historic victory was fueled by small-dollar donations.

But to be honest, I never liked asking you for money.

I hated that defeating McConnell’s Senate majority took MILLIONS of dollars.

It’s difficult for everyday people to run for office. And sadly, taking on debt to fund my campaign was necessary to winning.

When I first ran for office, I vowed to fight for everyday people like you.

Because as the son of an ironworker, I know what working families go through.

And unlike other candidates, I don’t have personal wealth to fuel my campaign.

But throughout it all, I refused to accept corporate money -- because too many politicians have been bought and sold for too long.

I don’t regret running for the Senate in the right way. I won my election because so many people like you believed in me and chipped in to my campaign.
