Last night, Tucker Carlson attacked Ayanna and members of the Squad for speaking out and pursuing accountability for the agitators of the violent insurrection that occurred last week.
Carlson sought to portray Ayanna as hypocritical, because of her support for peaceful Black Lives Matter protestors last year.
What Carlson didn’t say during his racist, sexist attack is that these events are not the same. The attack on the Capitol was not a "protest." The goals were not to take a stand against injustice. Instead, the goals were to cause violence and death in an effort to overturn the results of a free and fair election. That is called treason.
Tucker Carlson knows this, but he continues to peddle the rhetoric that keeps his viewers watching. And in doing so, he’s putting Ayanna’s life, and the lives of every other public servant who speaks out, in danger. He’s doing so willingly and without hesitation.
Ayanna will not stop speaking out against the inciters and agitators who poured fuel on the fire; she’ll continue to push for investigations and fight to hold Trump and his allies in Congress accountable.
And she’ll never stop standing up for those who oppose racism and white supremacy, no matter what derogatory, dismissive attacks Tucker Carlson and other Republicans send her way.
Thank you for standing with us,
