Dear John, Given the considerable constitutional weight of impeachment, I wanted you to hear directly from me about where I stand. I am afraid that the Democrats have lost their minds when it comes to President Trump. The transcript released today of a phone call between President Trump and President Zelensky of Ukraine was a nothing burger, and to impeach any president over a phone call like this would be insane. Contrary to what the Democrats had previously claimed, there is not one scintilla of evidence that President Trump threatened to withhold money from Ukraine because he wanted President Zelensky to do his political bidding. So, I say to my friends on the other side of the aisle: if you believe the telephone transcript is a 'smoking gun' for impeachment, then the House of Representatives should take a formal vote to open an impeachment inquiry. Instead of making them guess, the American people should be able to see exactly where their Member of Congress stands on this important matter!
