Dear neighbors,

Last week's attack in DC was beyond reprehensible. And worst of
all, the thousands of people who stormed the Capitol were incited
and encouraged by Donald Trump and his most loyal allies in
Congress - all in effort to stop the certification of Joe Biden
as our next President.

Never in my life did I believe a violent act of insurrection
like this would happen in an effort to overthrow a legal U.S.
election. But it did happen -- and now we must find a path
forward. In an op-ed for the Boston Globe, I laid out a plan to
do just that.

Step one is to remove Donald Trump from office. He is a serious
threat to our nation's security in his last few days in office
and we cannot allow him to hold his position any longer. For that
reason, I voted Wednesday to impeach Donald Trump.

This accountability must also apply to the Members of Congress
who aided and abetted Donald Trump in inciting the mob to attack
Congress. Their intentional lies about the security of our
elections for their own self gain is what led to the anger and
caused the attack. They must face real consequences or they will
not stop.

Despite last week's attack, I am thankful the Capitol has been
secured and that five days from now, Joe Biden will be
inaugurated as our next President. I am optimistic that with a
new President leading the way, we can begin healing and
rebuilding our democracy.

Until then, we will not let violence and disinformation derail
our work or the will of the people.

Sincerely,

Lori----
