Dear AFGE Activist,
Today we pause to remember and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On January 15, 1929 a true hero was born. Through his teachings, activism, and leadership we have learned what it means to truly embody our beliefs and move forward in our purpose.
Dr. King was a staunch advocate for the labor movement and spent his final days championing the rights of striking sanitation workers in Memphis. As a monumental figure in our nation's history and our collective fight for social and economic justice, Dr. King is a reminder of what we can achieve when we believe in a collective vision of justice.
Together, we can move forward in uplifting the voices of all working people. Let us continue to honor the life and sacrifice of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In Solidarity,
Dr. Everett Kelley
AFGE National President
