By now you’ve seen the news: the House has launched a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump in light of revelations that he not only urged the leader of a foreign country to investigate a political rival and interfere with our election but also blocked his intelligence community for presenting information about that effort to Congress -- in clear violation of the law.
Chris supports this inquiry. In fact, back in July, he was the first member of Congress who represents a district that Trump won in 2016 to stand up and say we must hold the president accountable.
He didn’t make that decision lightly, and to be frank, it would have been politically safer for him not to do it. But even back in July, Chris understood how important it was for Congress to provide oversight and hold this president accountable -- regardless of the politics.
Chris was the first to stand up for what was right when it was politically difficult, and now we’re asking you to stand up for him and help make sure he can keep working for New Hampshire.
Chris will tell you: this isn’t why he ran for Congress. His priority remains standing up for Granite State families and the issues that matter to them like health care, prescription drug costs, and taking care of our veterans.
But defending the rule of law and holding our leaders accountable is exactly why he is serving in Congress. And that’s why he didn’t need to wait to see what the pundits and pollsters had to say.
