Four More Years Starts Now

On Monday, during a pandemic-adjusted ceremony, Governor Holcomb and Lt. Governor Crouch were sworn into their second term, and I couldn’t be more optimistic for Indiana’s future. As the governor said during his second inaugural address; “it’s important to look to the future, a future for our state and our citizens that I believe is full of hope and opportunity.” Monday’s ceremony begins the next four years of Republican leadership in the statehouse and the Holcomb-Crouch team will continue their mission of building One Indiana for All.

And the governor hasn’t taken his foot off the gas. Earlier this week, he introduced his proposed state budget, and Indiana once again sits in a much better fiscal position than many other states. The governor’s budget calls for paying down debts, restoring funding to many programs and projects that were paused at the outset of the pandemic, and investing an additional $377 million in new money for our schools.

Additionally, on Monday, Todd Rokita assumed the office of Indiana Attorney General. I’m grateful Todd is in his new role. He’ll be a good partner to the governor and to our legislative supermajorities in the statehouse as he protects and defends the laws of Indiana.

We also received great news on the vaccination front, as Bloomberg News cites Indiana as having the highest vaccination rate in the Midwest. With the announcement earlier this week that all Hoosiers 70 and over can now receive the vaccine, I know these impressive vaccination rates will continue. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Continuing to Build One Indiana for All

It's been another busy week for Governor Holcomb!

On Monday, Governor Holcomb and Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch were sworn into their second term in office. Under their leadership, Indiana has broken records and has become a true destination for people to live, work, play, and stay. During their second term, the Holcomb-Crouch team will continue their mission of building One Indiana for All!

On Wednesday, Governor Holcomb introduced his 2021 budget proposal ([link removed][UNIQID]) . Under his leadership and watchful eye, Indiana is in a better fiscal position than our neighbors. While many states have made cuts to essential services, Gov. Holcomb's budget proposal will allow Indiana to fully fund areas that are vital to our state’s continued success. That includes paying our debts, restoring funding to many programs and projects that were forced to pause due to the pandemic, and investing an additional $377 million in new money for our schools. 2021 State of the State Address

On Tuesday, January 19, Governor Holcomb will deliver his 2021 State of the State address. You won't want to miss this year's address as he lays out his plans to continue building One Indiana for All!

Fourth Consecutive Year of Record Economic Development

Governor Holcomb announced that 2020 was ([link removed][UNIQID]) a fourth consecutive, record-breaking year for economic development in Indiana. ([link removed][UNIQID]) In total, Indiana secured 282 commitments from companies to locate or grow in the state. These businesses plan to invest more than $5.6 billion into their Indiana operations and create up to 31,300 new Hoosier jobs with average wages of $28.13/hour. Governor Holcomb's Proposed Budget

On Wednesday Governor Holcomb proposed his budget for the next two years. Holcomb proposed several one-time initiatives that will not require on-going funding obligations. K-12 funding will also be increased again. The Holcomb administration called the state's financial situation a "pleasant surprise" and believe that Indiana's budget reserves should return to pre-pandemic levels in 2021. Here are a few major items on Governor Holcomb's budget proposal:
* Increased investment in education by $377 million in NEW money for schools
* $702 million to pay down various debt liabilities, saving Hoosiers on interest payments in the long run
* Replenishing unemployment insurance fund to continue supporting Hoosiers impacted by COVID-19
* Cash payments for capital projects, saving Hoosiers millions on future interest payments
* Rebuilding and maintaining a healthy reserve fund
* $100 million for broadband expansion for underserved communities
* Maintaining support for Workforce Ready and Employer Training Grants
* Maintain Support for Manufacturing Readiness Grants
* Restarting Next Level Trails program

Vaccines for Hoosiers
Thanks to Governor Holcomb and Operation Warp Speed Indiana continues to set the bar and lead the way in the Midwest. The most recent report from Bloomberg shows Indiana as the best in the Midwest in COVID-19 vaccine distribution. Not only is Indiana getting vaccines distributed quickly, but now Hoosiers 70+ can schedule to get vaccinated.
