Through denaturalization, the government can take away citizenship from naturalized Americans and their families — decades after they’ve built their lives in the U.S.

In the past, denaturalization was used as a last resort against alleged Nazis and other war criminals. Under the Trump Administration, however, the government built an entirely new interagency apparatus to strip people of their citizenship — even for mistakes they didn’t make. We need to make clear to the incoming Biden Administration that this must stop.

Muslim Advocates and a coalition of nearly 50 civil rights organizations across the country just sent a letter to the incoming Biden-Harris Administration with clear steps on how to stop these abusive practices.
