Friend,

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted for the second time to impeach President Trump. We believe it is essential for the Senate to convict him as quickly as possible. If you agree, will you add your name to our petition?

President Trump's incitement of a failed coup last week is only the latest chapter in a long line of anti-democratic behavior, from corruption to sedition. But it did not occur in a vacuum -- it is the culmination of a sustained assault on our democracy by the Republican Party.

We have a lot of work to do to clean up the mess Trump will leave us with and restore our democracy. But we have to double down on the fight to tear down barriers to voting and secure fair redistricting so that our system of government is truly responsive to the people.

But before we can get to any of that, it is imperative that Congress remove Trump from office. As NDRC Chair Eric Holder has said, "he cannot be trusted with the powers of the presidency" -- even for one week.

Many in the Senate may not want to convict the leader of their own party, no matter how unfit. That's why we need your name on this petition -- to send an emphatic message to the United States Senate that it must vote to convict Trump for his gross betrayal of our democracy.
