Hello all,

I hope this email finds everyone as well as possible.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic almost a year ago, people inside immigration detention and advocates outside have been tirelessly sounding the alarm on the grave threat COVID-19 poses for people detained. Despite the impossibility of following safety guidelines in detention, more than 15,000 people remain detained. Under the Trump administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not just refused to release people, but has actively engaged in dangerous practices that have directly contributed to the propagation of COVID-19 inside and outside of detention <[link removed]>, including transferring people between facilities and mass deportations Indeed, according to ICE’s own reports, as of January 7, 8,575 people in custody alone have tested positive for COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

As the Biden administration enters office, they have the opportunity to take necessary action to take a different course and save lives. Help us tell them that! Sign on to Freedom for Immigrants and Detention Watch Network’s organizational sign on letter calling on the Biden administration and members of Congress to #FreeThemAll and enact necessary moratoriums on enforcement actions, deportations, and transfers.

Click here <[link removed]> to read the letter and here <[link removed]> to sign on.

This letter is open to organizations ONLY. The deadline to sign on is January 22 at 4 PST/6 CST/7 EST.

Additionally, save the date for a Twitterstorm on January 26th to further uplift the demands of this letter. More information will follow shortly.

For any questions about this letter, please reach out to Gabriela Viera [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> or Sarah Gardiner a [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>.

Many thanks, Sarah Gardiner

Hola todxs,
