After spending months spreading misinformation and lies about the validity of the election he clearly lost, Donald Trump took toward inciting a violent insurrection against the U.S. Capitol.

The House of Representatives upheld its duty to hold Trump accountable last night — impeaching him for the second time during his presidency. Now, it’s time for the Senate to step up and do our part.

Mitch McConnell must call the Senate back to Washington early so we can begin an impeachment trial and remove Trump from office immediately. Otherwise, we run the risk of allowing him and his allies to do irreversible damage to our democracy.
