John,
Last week, while our representatives in Congress were carrying out their constitutional duty to count the votes from the Electoral College, some of the most powerful people in government actively provoked an armed siege of the Capitol building. That’s why today, we’re partnering with MoveOn to call on one of the chief instigators, Sen. Ted Cruz, to accept his culpability and resign from office.

The siege of the Capitol was more than just an attack on a building. It was an assault on the work we do every day here at Voto Latino to enfranchise every single American and ensure everyone’s voice counts. Those who played any part in inspiring it have no place in our government.
There’s no doubt that Sen. Cruz’s false cries of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election provoked the violent mob that stormed the Capitol last week. But even worse is the fact that Sen. Cruz surely knows that no such voter fraud took place.
Sen. Cruz’s insistence that voter fraud took place despite any supporting evidence, coupled with his repeated attempts to overturn the results of a legally conducted election, demonstrate both the danger he poses to our democracy and his own inability to represent the people of Texas in the U.S. Senate. He must resign.
If you agree, add your name to Voto Latino and MoveOn’s petition today calling for Sen. Ted Cruz to resign from office over his role in enabling the violent white supremacist insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
