With everything going on, we don’t want to forget to celebrate some good news.
John,
Hey, everything is scary and bad right now, so we have to find little glimmers of hope and acknowledge when good things happen (maybe especially in moments like this).
So I’m writing to share some good news: yesterday was Ajit Pai’s last meeting as the chair of the FCC, and next week he’ll be gone.
We will soon be done with the worst FCC Chair ever, and we’ll be able to move forward with reinstating net neutrality and ensuring everyone has access to affordable Internet as we continue through this pandemic and beyond.
We have an opportunity with the new Congress and Administration to both reinstate net neutrality at the FCC, and pass federal legislation to enshrine these protections into law.
But getting a champion at the FCC is going to take pressure on the Administration, and getting a bill through Congress will mean going up against anti-net neutrality legislators and big ISPs like Comcast and AT&T.
