John,
First and foremost, I want to thank you for hitting our fundraising goal for Tahanie Aboushi in Manhattan. She’s up against some heavily-financed opponents, and what you raised will help her compete during the homestretch of her primary.
But Tahanie isn’t the only transformative DA that Real Justice is backing this cycle. Larry Krasner, the first District Attorney candidate we ever supported, has his own primary in May.
This is a big deal for a lot of reasons, which I’ll get into in a minute. The short-version is that because his tenure in Philadelphia has been SO REVOLUTIONARY, there’s a big target on his back.
We’ve set a goal to raise $50,000 for him by the end of January. It’s an ambitious mark, but hitting it will put his campaign in a GREAT position to stand up to any challengers. Are you with us?
Here’s the full breakdown: Since day one, Larry has been putting in place transformative policies against mass incarceration, police brutality, and racist sentencing and prosecution.
These efforts did not go unnoticed by his white supremacist opponents. Donald Trump PERSONALLY called him the “worst District Attorney.” Some police officers formed a new PAC just so they could raise money to defeat him. They’re terrified, and for good reason.
But Larry’s impact has been far greater than even what he’s achieved in Philadelphia. His leadership has provided a model for grassroots, reform candidates across the country to not only win, but to bring about huge change. From Boston to San Francisco, and St. Louis to LA, the candidates that you’ve helped elect are putting sweeping reforms into place, and it’s clear our opponents want to stop the momentum in its tracks.
Larry has shown incredible courage. He’s putting it all on the line to bring real justice to our communities. We owe it to him to have his back. I hope you’ll join us in supporting him in his re-election.
Appreciate all that you do.
- Shaun
